How things are going...This entry was posted on 6/4/2008 8:54 PM and is filed under Life at 'Home'. Okay, so I've not made good use of my blog the past year.
But here I am again...Hi! As usual it's been a busy few months. So...let's sum up. March rolled around and I was supposed to leave S. Korea...BUT...I ended up staying an additional month to help the school out of a jam. One of the teachers had to return home due to a sick family member, so I stayed on while they found a replacement. April found me back in New York. Yay! New York City...how I missed you! However, trying to fit back into my life here has been a bit more difficult than anticipated. The world here seems to have moved on with out me. So in some ways, I'm starting from scratch. This is of course to be expected. Things never stand still...especially in NYC. But...such is life. I'm keeping busy. May brought my sister's wedding and a flurry of activity I won't soon forget. The wedding was a blast, thanks in large part to the best man, Simon. Simon was certainly the life of the party, befriending every single guest, every stranger staying in the hotel, every waiter at the reception, the limo drivers, the concierge...you name it. Not to say the other guests weren't fun too! I met quite a few people and had a great day. I even got to dance with the father of the groom. I wasn't the only one who had fun though. I distinctly recall a good number of guests closing the hotel bar....obviously, myself included. Additionally, in May, I started taking Tae Kwon Do classes. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art which, ironically, I didn't study in Korea. I happened to see a 'Grand Opening' sign while taking a walk in my neighborhood and I decided to check it out. Hands down it's one of the hardest things I've ever done....but I love it! I've developed aches and pains in muscles I never knew I had...but it hasn't slowed me down. If I could afford it, I'd take classes more often. The big news here is that I've got my first belt test on Friday. Hopefully I'll be scoring my yellow belt then. Okay...there we are...all caught up. Now...a look into the future. Oooohhhh....mysterious! At the moment I'm applying for every conceivable job I can find in Morocco. I'm hoping to find a job teaching English and move to Morocco in September or October. Unfortunately, the hunt hasn't gone well so far. It seems schools in Marrakech, my first choice and Zakaria's hometown, are not hiring. So, the search had to be expanded. I've applied for jobs in Rabat and Casablanca as well and am waiting to hear back. So...everyone out there...keep your fingers crossed please! Zakaria and I could really use a break for once! So...there ya go. The story until now. I'd love to hear from all of you who may be reading this. I'll keep you posted in return. Cheers all! *Liz CommentsDisplay comments as (Linear | Threaded)
