Fieldtrip...to the flower farm. This entry was posted on 4/15/2007 3:57 AM and is filed under South Korea. A bit overdue...but here you go.
In honor of Arbor Day (April 5th in Korea) we took the kids to a nursery in the north of Busan. The kids were all kitted out, in typical Korean style, for the outing. ![]() The fieldtrip it's self was not all that fun, to be honest. There was some sort of introduction (in Korea) that bored the kids after the first ten minutes or so. Then it was off to the greenhouses where the kids spent a lot of time running their hands over the tops of plants, then smelling their hands. (We saw spearamint, Spirumintoo in Korean, along with rosemary, apple mint, pineapple mint...etc, etc.) ![]() (Gotta love Sophia in the Winnie the Pooh hat!) ![]() Yummy, mint. The it was time to pot some plants. The kids each got their own flower pot and applemint plant. Getting ready, rolling up their sleeves. ![]() Step 2, plants ready to move from little pots to big ones. ![]() David hiding behind his mint plant, with Charles looking on. ![]() Like I said...not very interesting stuff. Oh well. From the nursery we headed to a children's special hiking zone. We ate lunch and then went for a hike to round up the day. The path went in a circle, up a hill and back down to the cafeteria. It was actually pretty steep and I had little Sophia holding my hand the whole time. It wasn't much, but it was pretty it it's own right. ![]() The kids stop for yet another photo... ![]() All in all, it was a nice day and the kids mostly enjoyed it. It was cool to get out of the city center and see more of the city. Busan is a lot bigger than I originally thought. Our next fieldtrip at the begining of May...we'll see how that one goes.
